Several things caught our attention at once when we took our Mathews Reezen test bow out of the box. The first thing we noticed is that the limbs on the Reezen are far more parellel to maybe even beyond parallel then any other Mathews bow. When drawn the limb tips move into a far beyond parallel position. The second item that stood out is the shape of the cam. We have been accustomed to the mostly round profile of the cams on Mathews bow such as the Switchbacks, Drenalin, and DXT. The cam on the Reezen has a distinctive lobe to it, it is immediately apparent that it is something different then what Mathews has offered before. The third difference between the Reezen and past Mathews bows is the Reezen does not use e-clips on the bottom axle, instead it uses a large head on one end of the axle pin and an unique metal anchoring system on the other. (We have yet to pull it apart but when we do we will review Mathews new anchoring system in these pages.)
As soon as we held the Reezen we found another difference between it and previous Mathews bows. Almost all of Mathews recent models have balanced perfectly in the hand without the addition of a stabilizer or any other weights. The Reezen is a very top heavy bow, it tips forward in your hand, not just a little but a lot. If you prefer shooting a balanced bow that does not tip either forward are backwards you are going to want to add a v-bar or some other type of weight to the back of the Reezen to achieve balance.
